    Das Judentum in Bosnien und Herzegowina wird erstmals im 16. Jahrhundert (1565) erwähnt.


    Vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg gab es etwa 14.000 Juden in Bosnien und Herzegowina, davon 10.000 in Sarajevo, was etwa 10 Prozent der Stadtbevölkerung ausmachte. Während des Zweiten Weltkrieges wurden im Unabhängigen Staat Kroatien 10.000 Juden ermordet. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg entschieden sich viele Juden, nach Israel umzusiedeln.
    Vor dem Ausbruch des Bosnienkriegs gab es etwa 2.000 Juden in Bosnien und Herzegowina. Während der Auseinandersetzungen wurden die meisten Juden nach Israel evakuiert und ein Großteil von ihnen entschied sich nach dem Ende des Kriegs auch dort zu verbleiben. Im Jahr 2008 leben rund 1000 Juden in Bosnien und Herzegowina, etwa 900 Sephardim und 100 Aschkenasim. Die größte Gemeinde ist die von Sarajevo mit zirka 700 Mitgliedern. Kleinere jüdische Gemeinden gibt es in Banja Luka, Mostar, Tuzla, Doboj und Zenica.

    The Avaz Twist Tower in Sarajevo is the tallest tower in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the new headquarter for Avaz, a Bosnia and Herzegovina newspaper company.The tower is located in Marijin Dvor, Sarajevo's business district, which has recently been renovated, with plans for the Unitic 3, Sarajevo City Center, and the construction of ALTA center, US Embassy and the Importane Center. Construction began in 2006 and has been finished in 2009. The Avaz Twist tower was the tallest building in the region prior to completion of the Avala Tower in Belgrade, Serbia.

    Vedran Smajlović (born November 11 1956), known as the "Cellist of Sarajevo", is a musician from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a former cellist in the Sarajevo String Quartet.
    He played in the Sarajevo Opera, the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, The Symphony Orchestra RTV Sarajevo, and the National Theatre of Sarajevo.
    After the start of the war in Bosnia, Vedran Smajlović, just like hundreds of thousands of other residents who endured the Siege of Sarajevo, survived the cold, food and water shortages, the constant bombings and sniper fire in the street.

    The Bosmal City Centar (BCC) (Bosnian: Bosmalov gradski centar) is a business and residential tower located in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Standing 118 m (387 ft) high, it is the fourth tallest residential building in the Balkans. In addition to apartment units, the complex houses several amenities, including restaurants, salons, and shops.
    The Bosmal City Centar was the project of Bosnian firm Bosmal, created in 2001 by the Šabanović Brothers. With an overall investment valued at €80 million, the Bosmal City Centar is the largest direct foreign greenfield investment in Bosnia. The project involved nearly seventy companies and employed more than 3,500 workers.
