Turkish Prime Minister Erdoğan loses 88-year-old mother

PM Erdoğan lost his mother, Tenzile Erdoğan, on Friday.
Friday was perhaps one of the most difficult days of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as he lost his 88-year-old mother, Tenzile Erdoğan, at an İstanbul hospital where she was hospitalized last week. Erdoğan's mother was hospitalized with complaints of a high fever and a stomachache, and underwent gallbladder surgery earlier this week. She was being kept in the intensive care unit. Erdoğan paid regular visits to his mother at the medical center. The prime minister reportedly rushed to the hospital upon hearing the news and cancelled all his meetings for the day.
Public figures from the worlds of politics, business, sports and media and family members of Erdoğan rushed to the Medipol Hospital in Kadıköy district where Erdoğan's mother passed away to offer their condolences to the prime minister. Among those paying a condolence visit to Erdoğan were Food and Agriculture Minister Mehdi Eker, Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputy chairman Ömer Çelik, İstanbul Governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu, İstanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş, İstanbul Police Chief Hüseyin Çapkın, businessman Ali Ağaoğlu and sports commentator Rıdvan Dilmen. There were tight security measures taken around the hospital.
Erdoğan later went to his house in Kısıklı, where he received people offering him their condolences for his mother’s death.
President Abdullah Gül made a phone call to Erdoğan to offer his condolences, and said he would attend the funeral ceremony which will be held in the Fatih Mosque on Saturday.
Mrs. Erdoğan will be laid to rest at the Karacaahmet Cemetery in İstanbul following the noon prayers on Saturday.
Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu also made a phone call to the prime minister to offer his condolences. Kılıçdaroğlu wished patience for Erdoğan from God. The CHP leader will not attend the funeral ceremony for he will be in Abant for a pre-scheduled party gathering over the weekend but several CHP members will represent the party at the funeral ceremony. Pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chairman Selahattin Demirtaş and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli released written messages of condolence for the prime minister.
In the meantime, phones were down at the AK Party headquarters and the prime ministry due to a large number of people calling these offices to offer their condolences to the prime minister. On Friday, Turkish newspapers were also trying hard to increase the number of their pages to make room for the outpouring of condolences for the prime minister.
Tenzile Erdoğan who was born in Rize’s Güneysu district had been living in İstanbul since 1955. Erdoğan’s father Ahmet, a ship captain, lost his life in 1988. Güneysu Mayor Ahmet Minder said Tenzile Erdoğan was in Güneysu a month ago and that she was in good condition but that she could not recover after her latest surgery.
“There is great sorrow in losing a mother who raised a world leader,” said Minder.
Erdoğan, who was very keen of his mother, never skipped visiting her with a bouquet of flowers on Mothers’ Day, despite his busy programs.

Folgendes meine ich ganz sachlich aufgrund politischen Hintergrundes, diverser Statements und der kultivierten Heuchelei. Seine Jünger mögen es mir verzeihen, aber es ist mir offen gesagt scheißegal:

Turkish PM pays final respects to mother in widely attended funeral

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Saturday paid his final respects to his mother, who died on Friday at the age of 88, in a funeral held in İstanbul that was attended by thousands, including top state officials. Tenzile Erdoğan died in hospital on Friday, days after a gall bladder operation. Thousands of people filled the courtyard of Fatih Mosque in İstanbul where funeral prayers were held before the burial on Saturday and then spilled out into the street.
Erdoğan, who helped carry the coffin along with President Abudullah Gül, was seen weeping. The Turkish prime minister’s affection for his mother is a well-known fact. He used to pay regular visits to his mother in her home in İstanbul despite his busy schedule.
The state-run Anatolia news agency said US President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad are among the leaders who have expressed their condolences.
