FYROM is ready to start EU accession negotiations, says the EP

Nehmt aber bitte nur den Euro, wenn ihr euch vorerst schaden könnt. Es sei denn, ihr wisst, wie man damit umgeht...

Polish immigrants/tourists get into a fight with each other. Note: There are no one of my country in this video, and I might be born in Skopja but I have some Polish blood in me, so please no racist comments against Poles or you will be banned.

What happens when foreigners finance your journalists?

Last night, a debate between ZNM president Naser Selmani and Vecer editor and member of MAN Dragan Pavlovic Latas was viewed with great interest by the Macedonian public.

ZNM is a self proclaimed independent organization of journalists in Macedonia.
The difference between ZNM and MAN is that most of the journalists in ZNM are actually jobless with few working for obscure portals connected to former TV station A1. Whereas MAN includes journalists from all the printed newspapers and magazines across the country.

On a Latas question where do the funds come from for this organization who by all accounts is funded exceptionally well, the head of ZNM Naser Selmani refused to answer.

Selmani's refusal to discuss the transparency of his organization and where do funds come from opened up a pandora box for an already suspicious Macedonian public.
Latas asked the ZNM president who funds their "debates" in Ohrid, who pays their hotel bills, who pays their high salaries even though they aren't working for a newspaper, who covers their dinners at expensive restaurants and who pays for the foreign guests and visitors invited to their debates.

Selmani remained silent and appeared to try to change the topic, after which Latas stopped him and insisted to get an answer. Selmani answered they get "donations" but refused to answer what the source(s) of their donations are.
Just few days ago Selmani was seen meeting with foreign ambassadors to discuss the new media law. Instead of meeting with Macedonian politicians and talk about any issues ZNM had with the law, ZNM members are always seen meeting with foreign diplomats, despite the fact that it is not within the scope of foreign diplomats to discuss laws of their hosting country.

Around two weeks ago, other prominent ZNM members Borjan Jovanovski and his mother, Slobodanka Jovanovska met with Brussels diplomats to discuss 'freedom of speech' and the new media law which calls for transparency - this is an issue for ZNM because they would have to answer which foreign Governments fund their organization.

ZNM's president Naser Selmani was elected by 100 votes, out of which 75 came from complete unknown members of ZNM, who are not necessarily journalists.
In reality, there are 1,000 journalists in Macedonia, so any attempt by ZNM to represent Macedonian journalists is illegitimate.

'Journalists' financed by foreign sources is a serious problem, and last night's debate between Selmani and Latas just confirmed what we all suspected for at least 10 years. There are individuals who abuse the written word, misinform and mislead the public and are financed and ordered what needs to be written by foreign sources. This includes the latest story from a fortnight ago that the EU was returning travel visas for Macedonia. That turned out to be blatantly false - the source of the information was ZNM journalists.
    Is this journalism, or prostitution?
